The SARBICA International Symposium 2023 will be held on November 21–22, 2023, in Bangkok, Thailand, under the theme "Archives in the Digital Era: Changes, Adaptations, Achievements". Abstracts and posters must show the results of research, projects, case studies, practices, or theoretical perspectives with regards to the following issue:

  • Disruption in the digital age
  • AI as a professional archivist
  • Digital risk management
  • Virtual and metaverse archives
  • New Technologies, tools, and solutions
  • Policies and strategies for digital records and archives management
  • Preserving metadata and authenticity for long-life access
  • Crowdsourcing of digital collection
  • Digital preservation of cultural heritage collections
  • Appraisal and management of digital heritage
  • Archiving intangible and digital cultural heritage

We welcome other related issues. Abstracts must be written in English, approximately 250–300 words in DOCX format. The presenter’s biography and the abstract should be sent to sarbica2023@nat.go.th by June 15, 2023. This symposium exercises triple-blind peer review system. Presenters would receive a response by June 30, 2023.

Details to Note:

Presentation

  1. Submit an abstract in DOCX format via e–mail by June 15, 2023, to sarbica2023@nat.go.th
  2. The abstract should include
    • Title of presentation
    • Abstract, maximum of 300 words
    • Name, Institution, and Biography (including job position and responsibility), maximum of 250 words per presenter
  3. All submitted abstracts will be considered by the review committee. The notifications of acceptance of proposals will be issued by June 30, 2023.
  4. Presenters must confirm if they are available for presentation at the Symposium in person or via Zoom by July 15, 2023.
  5. On–site presenters will be exempted from the registration fee to attend the event and must be responsible for their own travel expenses and accommodation costs. If there are many presenters for a presentation, only one presenter will be eligible for the exemption.
  6. Presenters via Zoom will be pre-recorded and submitted to sarbica2023@nat.go.th by September 24, 2023. Presenters must live in the Q&A segments.

On–site poster

  1. Submit an abstract of poster in DOCX format via e–mail by June 15, 2023, to sarbica2023@nat.go.th
  2. The poster must display the results of research, projects, case studies, practices, or ideas involving archival works that delegates may view in a dedicated space at the Symposium venue.
  3. All submitted abstracts will be considered by the review committee. The notifications of acceptance of posters will be issued by June 30, 2023.
  4. Presenters must confirm if they are available for poster presentation at the Symposium in person by July 15, 2023.
  5. Posters must be digitally sent in AI or PSD format by September 24, 2023. The organizer will print it out and display it on November 21, 2023.
  6. The poster should be written in English within the template (800 mm wide x 1800 mm high). If you are using photographs, graphics, and text outside of your poster, these should also fit within the area of the template. (Click this link to download template)
  7. Registration fee, 130 USD, is applied to poster presenters. Presenters must be responsible for their own travel expenses and accommodation costs.
  8. Presenters should accompany their posters for explanation and discussion during the Symposium on November 21–22, 2023.
  9. Poster session will be shown in the schedule.
